An Old World Lifestyle

Transylvania is “…the very model of an integrated, sustainable world that consumes only what it can replenish, that treads lightly on its environment and leaves barely a carbon footprint behind.” –ONEARTH Magazine 2008

The Transylvanian region of Romania is a masterpiece shaped by thousands of years of history. An heir to ancient cultures, its rich historical and architectural heritage lives on in famous village mounds, fortress cities and monasteries.

“Transylvania” literally means “through the forest” in Latin, and while an apt descriptor, a more accurate description today may be “a trip through time,” especially when applied to the villages neighboring Poiana New Vista. It’s here you’ll experience a 19th century farming lifestyle that survives elsewhere only in folk tales and classic paintings.
