Simple, Sustainable Living

The villages reflect Transylvanian life as it has been for centuries. Horse drawn wagons make their way through the streets, hay is cut and stacked by hand, wood-burning stoves heat homes and homegrown produce is stored fresh or canned in cellars. Villagers carry on a life of green sustainability they don’t think of as a trend, but rather as the way it’s always been.

There is precious wisdom in simple thinking. When asked about the impact of the current global financial crisis, one villager smiled and responded, “There is no crisis in my pantry.” Transylvanian resourcefulness has stood the test of revolution, energy crisis, food shortage and depression.

Transylvanian village life has a natural, comforting rhythm that the rest of the world would envy if they knew it still existed.
