Village Hospitality

Food is one of the main ways that villagers welcome you into their way of life. That’s why each visit from a traveler is an opportunity to feast.

Eating in the home of a villager is a true cultural immersion as the entire meal is generally grown or hunted and prepared entirely by your generous hosts and hostesses. Romanian cooking is rich, tasty and substantial, as befits a place where all food is still naturally grown and where fruits and vegetables still follow their true seasons.

The quandary is not what to eat, but how much, as kind-hearted hostesses insist you have seconds, and even thirds, at the typical Transylvanian table.
